Fish Do It

Don Grose
"If you don't pursue your dreams you might as well be
a vegetable." Anthony Hopkins in The World's Fastest Indian...
I'm on holidays today ! Oh Joy ! Oh Bliss !
The BC Lions won the Grey Cup....like that wasn't s'posed to happen !?!?! The CFL needs to have someone upset BC every year in order to make the championship
something other than a snooze fest.
Last week there was hockey on TV four of five week nights...Never thought I'd say this but its' too
much...as good as I think the NHL product is today in
this latest go 'round , over-exposure is something
for which to watch out.
I took a few minutes - while watching hockey the other
night - and set up the Martin...I have a new favorite
guitar! I love my Gibson Gospel -it has the distinctive Gibson feel but it's better plugged in
than playing acoustically...My Larrivee is an exceptionally sweet sounding guitar - with the action
of an electric guitar but a sound that simply sings,
and rings bringing to the ear and mind visions of
warm, summer nights, campfires, full moons and
ceilings of glimmering stars....but the Martin is
a wonderful instrument - wonderful to the touch and
a sound that is both mountaintop high and dusty,
dry, valley creek bed low.
I have taken to experimenting with mics and mic positions, and guitar levels in an effort to achieve
a " live" sound that replicates that which I
manage through a digital recording studio..I don't expect to be able to match the studio through an old
Yamaha amp but even something close - something comparable - " It's mine to find a reason to go on."
So....it's 9:10AM on November 21...I'm playing golf
tomorrow morning ! In fact, that is what I chose
to celebrate when I initially sat down this morning.
As recently as Saturday I was playing golf in
shirt sleeves - in Nova Scotia...it has been a good
year...no telling when the " just one mores " are
going to run out.
Gotta Go...do something nice for someone today - it's the one guaranteed way to ensure that you have a
good day too !
Bless...
Don
