Raspberries and Roses

It's early Monday morning...couple of things to ponder..
Why can't all PGA Tour winners be as genuine as Woody
Austin ? Perhaps because he doesn't win every week,
perhaps because he's not one of the tour's marquis players -
but mostly probably because he's the type of player -
the type of person that instead of going berserk and
disrupting anything and everything that's going on
around him - he's the kind of person that snaps his own
putter over his own head when things get beyond his
ability to control...you have to love Woody Austin !
Michele Wie....I shant even bother...the poor lost child
is the victim of parents who are either blind with greed
and ambition or just blind and their vehicle is oh so sadly
their daughter. Tragically I'm guessing the damage already
done is damage from which Michele can never recover.
Still with golf - if you watch TSN - there is no way you
will have escaped the Dynamic Mutual Funds commercials
featuring Mike Weir and his caddy....How Mike could ever
allow these to get to air is nuts ! There is no worse series
of commercials on TV. Mike looks dumb - Brendan looks dumb -
and anyone with Dynamic Mutual Funds in their portfolio
should hastily divest themselves of this corporate entity.
Any company that employs a marketing department that
permits any agency to come up with this kind of a message
to "brand" their business - is I fear a company sadly lacking
in understanding of how to create an image to make people
want to consume their product...scary, scary stuff.
Phil Michelson will not win the US Open...
Love to hear from those people who listen every week to
the Golf Shop Radio Program. Please, when you register to
receive your weekly Golf Shop E Newsletter, feel free to
let me know a little about your golf experience...Are you
a member at a golf course ? Where do you play ? What is
it about the game that appeals to you ? What's your favorite
course ? Thanks for listening and for visiting the website.
I'm working on adding a few things to the website and the
show - so - keep coming back.
I'm excited about being able to offer some promotional
opportunities with Nike Golf and the Fairmont Algonquin
Resort and look forward to awarding some nice prizes in
the weeks ahead. Listen to the Golf Shop - and visit the
website www.atlanticgolfradio.com .
NS Mid Amatuer comes up next week at the Links at Penn
Hills the end of next week...If you like to watch good golf
at a good venue might be worth a drive out to Shubenacadie.
The Atlantic Zone of the CPGA is holding a tour event at
Penn Hills the second week of July...that should be fun to
watch as well.
While I'm at it...dare I say - the greens at Oakfield finally
appear to be coming around...keep your fingers crossed...
it's been a long and frustrating early part of the season for
golfers there. I played in a tournament at Granite Springs
last week and they too are experiencing some challenges
on their putting surfaces. Matters weren't helped by vandals
driving machinery across the three tiered 12th green.
I do not envy those people charged with the responsibility
of providing a satisfactory product to the golfing public -
be they greens fees players or members. Most of us
under those circumstances would be driven to twitches.
Had a visitor to the website from Pakistan this week...
Awesome...that's the US, England, the Philipines, Germany,
Africa, and South America so far....and the season's just begun.
Gotta run...
Til next time..hittem long and hittem straight...
Don
